Responsibly pumping concrete near water
While it is the responsibility of the contractor to ensure that water courses are protected, we take our responsibilities seriously and so ensure that we minimise the risk of environmental pollution during construction. As a result of this, we have won, over the years, many contracts in environmentally sensitive areas including flood defences, river bridges and coastal protection. We have even put concrete pumping equipment in the middle of one of Poole Harbour’s channels. To minimise the risk of our concrete placing booms and pumps causing damage to the environment we:
-
buy new German-engineered concrete pumps
-
service the pumps, booms and chassis on a 6 weekly cycle
-
check and replace boom pipes and pipeline seals regularly
-
train our operators in protecting the environment
-
use solvent free, biodegradable mould oil
-
equip the concrete pumps with spill kits
